Missing child found safe in Dover after short search

| September 29, 2023

DOVER – A 5-year-old boy with autism was found safe and sound Friday morning not long after he wandered away from his Poolview Circle home.

Dover Police Chief Paul Bantum says School Resource Officer Josh Roach, helped by a passing bicyclist, found the boy a few houses away and a block over on Deis Hill Road swinging on a swing.

Bantum says with a pool, pond, and creek nearby, first responders didn’t take any chances.

Dover Police, Dover Fire, New Philadelphia Police, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, a drone, and a police dog aided in the search that started around 8:40 a.m. and ended at 9:07 a.m.
