BOYS GOLF
Claymont won an IVC matchup over Garaway 154-161 at Big Bend. The Mustangs were led by low medalist Owen Lindsey shooting a 37. He was joined by teammates Brayson Gray (38), Mason Lynch (39), and Jax Crawshaw (40). The other Mustangs were right in the mix with a 41 from Payton Schilling and 42 by Oliver Lindsey. Leading the Pirates: Lofton Numbers 39, Jackson Gerber 40, Henry Swartzentruber 41, Gavin McRobie 41.
The Mustangs are back in action Thursday night against Newcomerstown at Hickory Flats.
At the Lake Blue Streak Invitational Monday, John F. Kennedy won with a 312 team score. New Philadelphia was 12th and Dover was 23rd, led by Gauge Stingel’s round of 86.
BOYS SOCCER
Zanesville 1 New Philadelphia 0
The New Philadelphia High School Boys soccer team hosted Zanesville at Southside Community Park on Monday, Aug. 25. The teams found themselves tied 0-0 at halftime. The Quakers had their chances with 15 shots, as well as 5 shots on goal throughout the match by Jacob MacMath, Elvin Herrera-Lopez, Ryan Sauser, Luis Herrera-Lopez, Cade Jones, Asher Zimmerman, and Konnor Kreinbihl. However, Zanesville was able to find a lone goal late in the second half to win the match 1-0. The Quakers move to 0-2-1 on the season. In one half of JV prior to the varsity match, the Quakers beat Zanesville 4-0.
VOLLEYBALL
Triway 3 Indian Valley 2 (28-26, 25-22, 24-26, 23-25, 15-11)
Indian Valley’s top performers included Gionna Miles (20 digs, 5 aces), Reese Polen (17 kills, 18 digs), Lily Lewis (7 kills, 24 digs), and Brooklyn Abbuhl (38 assists, 13 digs).
