CLAY TWP.  (WJER) (April 10, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a Gnadenhutten man has died following a motorcycle crash involving another vehicle.

The victim was 63-year-old Charles Cox. The crash happened on U.S. 36 just west of Gnadenhutten Tuesday at 4:20 p.m.

Troopers say Cox’s westbound motorcycle had slowed to turn left on Township Road 454 when it was hit from behind by a car driven by a 21-year-old West Lafayette man, who was treated at the scene.

The motorcycle went off the right side of the road, struck a tree, and came to a rest down an embankment.

Cox was taken to Trinity Hospital Twin City, where he was pronounced deceased.

A press release says Cox did not have a helmet on and the driver of the car was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol was not a suspected factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
