MWCD rangers hosting picnics to connect with parkgoers

| August 6, 2024

MINERAL CITY (WJER) (Aug. 6, 2024) – It’s National Night Out, a time for law enforcement agencies to focus on building stronger relationships with their communities.

The MWCD is inviting everyone to Atwood and Seneca Lake tonight from 5 to 8 for a picnic with the folks who protect and serve the park system. Chief Ranger Patrick Brockmeier explains the purpose:

“We’re gonna make it like a picnic-type situation where we can sit down and just have conversations with one another, and also it helps law enforcement because we are able to interact with other law enforcement that we see kind of on a different basis.”

He says it’s also an opportunity to see what those two parks have to offer.

“We are gonna provide cars and some different things they can take a look at, but really it’s just a very informal interaction with citizens and law enforcement.”

There’s no admission charge for attendees, and the first 150 people at each location will get free hot dogs, chips, and bottled water.
