MWCD set to begin construction on new $6.3M Tappan Regional Safety Center

| October 27, 2025

HARRISON CO. (WJER) (Oct. 27. 2025) – The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District and partnering agencies are about to soon break ground on the new $6.3 million Tappan Lake Regional Safety Center.

The facility will be built off U.S. 250 near the Pleasant Valley Church.

MWCD spokeswoman Adria Bergeron says it’ll include a new ranger training center, space for Tappan’s fire department, classrooms for area police and fire departments, and a helipad for emergency flights.

The MWCD is contributing nearly $5.6 million for the project. The Tappan Lake Volunteer Fire Department is providing $100,000, and a state grant is covering $650,000.

The estimated completion date is September of 2026.
