New Philadelphia honors Gradall Industries for 80 years of service

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Feb. 24, 2026) – New Philadelphia city leaders are recognizing Gradall Industries as the company celebrates its 80th anniversary. Mayor Joel Day issued a proclamation during Monday’s City Council meeting, praising the company for its long-standing contributions to the community.
Gradall President Mike Popovich accepted the proclamation, telling council members he was honored and emphasizing that the company continues to thrive in New Philadelphia. He added that Gradall plans to remain rooted in the city for generations to come.
Service Director Ron McAbier also commended Gradall for its ongoing support of city projects over the years, including repairs to the Ferris wheel at Tuscora Park and other community-focused efforts.
According to the proclamation, Gradall excavators were originally built in Cleveland in 1946 before the company relocated operations to New Philadelphia in 1950.
