New Philadelphia man arrested for hammer attack
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 26, 2023) – A 53-year-old is in the city jail awaiting his initial court appearance for a violent attack early this morning.
Dennis Risdon is facing preliminary charges of felonious assault, strangulation, and domestic violence for the alleged attack just after midnight at his home on Front Avenue. The victim called police after escaping to the front yard and reported being bludgeoned by Rison with a hammer. Police call records indicate that Risdon fled out the back door and was apprehended about 15 minutes later.
WJER News caught up with the officer who filed the charges around 10 o’clock this morning. He said the victim was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital but was doing okay and would likely be getting discharged later in the day.
Bond will be established for Risdon when he appears in New Philadelphia Municipal Court Tuesday morning.
