New Philadelphia man seriously injured in predawn motorcycle crash

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 18, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a New Philadelphia man was seriously injured when his motorcycle rear-ended an SUV in the same lane that had slowed down for traffic this morning in Clay Township.

The motorcycle rider, 34-year-old Tyler Crawford, was flown to an Akron hospital.

Both vehicles were westbound when the crash happened on U.S. 36 between Port Washington and Gnadenhutten at about 6:35 a.m.

The 22-year-old New Philadelphia woman driving the SUV was not injured.

Troopers say Crawford was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
