New Philadelphia mayor applauds MWCD relocation plan

| March 27, 2024

New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day provided this rendering of MWCD's plan for a new headquarters on Tech Park Drive.

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (March 26, 2024) – Mayor Joel Day is on board with the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District’s plan to consolidate its offices at a new location on Tech Park Drive.

“The decision to relocate MWCD’s administration building to the Regional Technology Park aligns well with the Conservancy District’s legacy of leadership in land management and environmental preservation. The design of the new building, incorporating renewable energy features and walking trails, seamlessly integrates with the original concept of the Tech Park. I appreciate the Board of Directors’ choice to keep MWCD headquartered in New Philadelphia, as the organization has been an integral part of the city’s identity for decades.”

Day says the new location near Buckeye Career Center and Kent State Tuscarawas creates opportunities for students seeking careers in land management and preservation.

The MWCD’s main office is at 1319 Third Street Northwest. It has a second office on Reiser Avenue Southeast. Day presented a drawing of the agency’s proposed campus on Tech Park Drive.

The MWCD plans to sell its current offices and build a campus complete with connecting walking paths on Tech Park Drive.
