New Philadelphia mobile home park fire under investigation

| October 28, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 28, 2025) – We expect to learn more soon about the investigation into the fire that damaged three mobile homes in all on the west end of town Sunday.

Online records show one person was booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail on arson and aggravated trespassing charges Sunday afternoon. New Philadelphia police told us they would provide more information today.

Fire Chief Jim Parrish said the fire started in a vacant home on 11th Street Northwest, leaving it and the home to its left a total loss. There was also heat and smoke damage to the home on its right, where firefighters had to alert three people and help them out. Nobody was injured.

Parrish says police and the State Fire Marshal have been investigating. He says firefighters were also working with the park’s management to remove or board up other vacant mobile homes there to prevent anyone from entering those and causing trouble.
