New Philadelphia quadrants work gets new start date

| October 29, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 29, 2025) – The city of New Philadelphia has been having to wait a little longer for construction to get underway on its downtown quadrants redesign project.

Dignitaries attended a groundbreaking ceremony in July for the $2.9 million state-funded project.

Mayor Joel Day reported last month that the actual work would begin October 6th – but that didn’t happen.

Service Director Ron McAbier told council this week the contractor now intends to begin work this coming Monday, while the end date hasn’t changed.

Day has said because of the use of ARPA funds, the project must be completed by October of 2026.
