New Philadelphia Schools Add Visitor Checks, Bus Tracking for New Year

| August 17, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 17, 2026) – A couple of new safety features are being rolled out at New Philadelphia City Schools in the new academic year that begins Thursday.

Superintendent Carole Sutton says several school buildings will have a new visitor management process requiring guests to present a driver’s license when they sign in.

Another addition is BusRight, a GPS-based app that will allow parents to track school buses. Students will receive cards to use with the system. The cards will be phased in beginning September 1st at the middle school, followed by the high school a week later and the elementary schools on September 21st.
