New Philadelphia’s West Elementary earns statewide honor
NEW PHILADELPHIA – Teachers, administrators and staff at New Philadelphia’s West Elementary School have earned statewide recognition for going above and beyond for their students.
Mark Jones with the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators this week honored the fourth grade and preschool building as one of its 2026 Hall of Fame Schools. West is one of just 11 schools out of 2,500 elementary and middle schools across Ohio receiving the honor this year after a selection process that includes a nomination, application and site visit.
Jones highlighted the school’s welcoming atmosphere and student accomplishments beyond grades and test scores. He said the students knit hats for those less fortunate and the fourth-graders serve as buddies for the preschoolers.
The OAESA will recognize West and other Hall of Fame schools at a ceremony in Columbus in June.
