Newcomerstown man dies in single-vehicle motorcycle crash
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 26, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle motorcycle accident that killed a Newcomerstown man over the weekend in Tuscarawas County’s Rush Township.
Troopers say the motorcycle, operated by 33-year-old Trevor Berndt, failed to negotiate a curve on Edwards Ridge Road, overturned, and struck a guardrail. The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection with Crooked Creek Road, east of Gnadenhutten.
Berndt was pronounced deceased at the scene. A press release from the patrol says he was not wearing a helmet.
According to statistics from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, this was the 11th fatal crash in Tuscarawas County in 2024, and the second this year involving a motorcycle.
