Newcomerstown plans to keep police department intact

| February 18, 2025

NEWCOMERSTOWN (WJER) (Feb. 18, 2025) – Mayor Pat Cadle is indicating the village plans to retain its police department amid staffing challenges.

Village officials have been considering outsourcing law enforcement coverage to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office following some resignations within the police department, including its chief.

But council members decided against that Monday night after hearing from residents.

Cadle said that it’s “essential to maintain our local identity and police force,” due to the community’s continued growth.

He also says the sheriff’s office will still assist the village during this challenging time.
