No one injured in Newcomerstown house fire

NEWCOMERSTOWN (WJER) (June 4, 2024) – The village fire department is sharing more details on the Monday blaze that heavily damaged a home in the 800 block of West State Street.
According to a Facebook post from the department, units were dispatched there just before 11 am to find heavy fire conditions on the first floor and flames extending upward to the second. The residents were away but firefighters didn’t know that initially and called in backup. They ultimately launched what’s known as a transitional attack, dousing the fire from the exterior before going inside to finish the job.
There’s no indication at this point what might have caused the blaze, which remains under investigation.
The home sustained significant smoke, heat, and water damage.
