ODOT paving 39 on both sides of Sugarcreek
SUGARCREEK – The village will be sandwiched by paving work on state Route 39 this summer, starting Monday night.
Night-time paving will begin along an 8-mile stretch of 39 west of the village, according to ODOT District 11 spokesperson Lauren Borell, from about the state Route 93 intersection west to U.S. 62 in Berlin.
Route 39 will be down to one lane at night with flaggers directing traffic. Both lanes will remain open during the day.
Officials are scheduling the paving at night to hopefully not disrupt tourist traffic.
Meanwhile, paving work along state Route 39 east of Sugarcreek continues.
At this phase of the project, ODOT is using a temporary traffic signal where the road is down to one lane for pavement repairs.
Once that phase is over, resurfacing will take place only at night. Both projects are scheduled to be completed this fall.
