ODOT planning for Tuscarawas County’s first roundabout at 250 and 21 intersection

STRASBURG – ODOT plans to build a roundabout just north of Strasburg in four years. This will be at the U.S. 250 and State Route 21 intersection.
Construction of the project won’t happen until 2029.
ODOT District 11 Spokesperson Lauren Borell says $1.5 million from the Ohio Safety Improvement Program will cover the cost.
“This is a very exciting project as this will be the first one in Tuscarawas County. We have received this funding through what’s called out Transportation Systems Management Operations Fund.”
Borell says more roundabouts are being added to communities to improve safety.
“Roundabouts significantly reduce fatal crashes and serious injury crashes. The data has been there to show this. Folks might think they add congestion, but in fact they keep things moving with a constant movement.”
In total, the Ohio Safety Improvement Program is investing $137.5 million for 55 new traffic safety projects in 41 counties.
