OneOhio grant to bolster local services for children and families
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 16, 2024) – Tuscarawas County’s Family and Children First Council is using grant money to help fight addition in our community.
The council received almost $157,000 from the OneOhio Foundation to create a new, two-year High Fidelity Wraparound Facilitator position. Manager Christi Otte says the addition will streamline access to essential resources and support while building resilience and healing amongst families with children impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
“High Fidelity Wraparound really focuses on family strengths that emphasize family voice and family choice, collaboration across multiple systems, and individualized support to achieve identified goals,” she explains. “We’re really excited about his because currently we are only a very small staff at Family and Children First Council so we really only have one coordinator going into homes in Tuscarawas County. So bringing on this new High Fidelity Wraparound position will allow us to serve more families in Tuscarawas County.”
The council is still accepting applications for the opening and hopes to begin interviews by the end of the week.

The grant is part of more than $51-million in opioid settlement money the foundation doled out statewide. Tuscarawas County’s Job and Family Services office received nearly 320-thousand dollars to create a couple of new positions there and one at the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center.
