Overnight fire destroys garage in Twin Cities area

| December 11, 2024

MILL TWP.  (WJER) (Dec. 11, 2024) – Dennison firefighters say a garage was gutted in an early morning blaze.

No other structures were damaged and there were no injuries. Chief Dave McConnell says they were dispatched to 152 North Wardell St. at 4:48 a.m.

“It was basically a one-stall detached garage in kind of a vacant lot there, “said McConnell. “We believe the cause was the wood burner.”

McConnell says nothing else was damaged on that site.

“There was a camper that they had been staying in…maybe a few feet away. The crews were able to extinguish the fire and get it knocked down quick enough to where it didn’t extend into the camper,” he said.

McConnell says there was a motorcycle, tools, auto parts, and other items in the garage. He estimates the damage at about $5,000.

Uhrichsville and Tusky firefighters also responded.  They were on scene until about 6:30 this morning.
