UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (Jan. 7, 2022) – Firefighters spent a few hours at the scene of an early morning fire that left a garage in the 100 block of N Wardell St. a total loss.

Capt. Wes Dillon says a passerby reported it shortly before 4 a.m. Friday.

He says firefighters arrived at a detached, 780-square-foot garage with an attic that had flames shooting through the roof.

Dillon says heat melted some of the siding on the back of the house that sits about 10 feet away from the garage.

Police had to wake up the woman who lives at the home. She was not injured.

There were tools, a vehicle, and a wood burner that was not in use at the time inside the garage.

Dillon says the State Fire Marshal ruled the cause as undetermined but could not rule out that the fire possibly started near the vehicle’s engine compartment.
