Parents can now sign newborns up for Imagination Library books at hospitals

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 14, 2025) – The State of Ohio is making it easier to sign kids up to receive a free book each month up to the age of five through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
The United Way of Tuscarawas County helps facilitate the program locally.
President Sarah Spies says Ohio is now part of a pilot program where parents can sign newborns up at the hospital by checking off a box and providing an e-mail address as part of the vital statistics paperwork.
Spies says this option just started over the summer. Nine babies were enrolled this way in Tuscarawas County in August and 52 in September.
