Plans advancing for new airport hangar
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 19, 2024) – The city’s Airport Commission is creating more indoor storage space for planes at Harry Clever Field.
Commission Chair Don Kennedy says the plan is to construct a 12-bay hangar off Delaware Drive south of the last one from 2019. He says there’s a waiting list of about 18 pilots wanting a bay at the airport.
The estimated cost for the project is $1.2 million. Part of that would be covered by a $500,000 state infrastructure bank loan, which would be paid for by hangar rental fees.
The airport is also getting $740 thousand from the federal bipartisan infrastructure bill for the project.
Kennedy is hoping they can break ground on the hangar next year and have it finished in 2026.
