Police Investigate Sunday Shooting in New Philadelphia
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 21, 2026) – New Philadelphia police are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting that left one man injured.
The department didn’t return calls for additional details last night, but a press release says officers were sent to 238 Second Street Southwest just after 4 p.m. following two 911 hang‑ups and a third call reporting a man had been shot.
Police say officers arrived quickly, detained one male at the scene, and provided aid to another until New Philadelphia firefighters arrived. Both were taken to the hospital.
Detectives are still working the case, but police say the incident appears isolated and there’s no active threat to the community. More information is expected later.
