Police looking for suspect who ran off after high-speed chase

STRASBURG – Police on Monday afternoon said the driver who led them on a high-speed chase Friday night was still at large.
Cpl. Connor Bailey says he initially pulled over the black Mitsubishi Lancer on I-77 for failing to turn off its high beams. After briefly stopping, the vehicle took off, reaching speeds of 105 miles per hour.
Eventually the vehicle exited at state Route 39, ran through two traffic lights and almost caused several accidents. The suspect abandoned his vehicle at the Comfort Inn in Dover and escaped on foot into the woods. A police dog, drone and airplane were unable to locate the suspect, but he left his wallet and other identifying documents in the vehicle.
Bailey says the driver is wanted in several other counties on several other warrants, which is likely why he ran.
Police did not immediately identify the suspect.
Bailey says the county prosecutor is reviewing the case for charges, which will likely include felony fleeing and eluding.
