Police looking for suspect who took cigars after claiming he had a gun

| May 3, 2023

DOVER (WJER) (May 3, 2023) – Police are looking for a man who walked off with some cigars from the Dover BP Station after claiming to have a gun.

County Sheriff Captain Adam Fisher says just before 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at the BP store on North Tuscarawas Avenue, the man first tried to buy the Black and Mild Cigars.

When the clerk told him he didn’t have enough money, he said he was homeless and had a firearm, so the clerk handed him the cigars and let him leave.

Fisher says investigators aren’t sure if he really had a gun.

He says the suspect is a white male with a black dog driving a silver 2006 Toyota RAV4 with a temporary tag in the back window.

He asks people not to approach the suspect and call the sheriff’s office if they see someone matching the description.
