ProVia acquiring Schaeffler’s Dover facility
DOVER – ProVia is buying the Schaeffler building in north Dover as part of a national expansion plan that includes 400 local jobs and 400 more in North Carolina.
The window, door and building material manufacturer headquartered in Walnut Creek announced this morning that it has reached an agreement with Schaeffler to purchase the under-construction 310,000-square-foot facility on 97 acres on Dover’s north border. Schaeffler had planned to manufacture electric vehicle components there, but changes in the market altered those plans.
ProVia says it will complete construction of the facility in 2027. A state tax credit agreement says the company will create 400 jobs by 2030, but officials expect that to happen sooner.
In a press release Dover and Tuscarawas County Economic Development Corporation officials say “the acquisition represents a $110 million investment in Dover and is expected to create approximately 400 new jobs over multiple phases of the project, generating an estimated $27 million in new annual payroll. The company’s more than 2,000 existing jobs throughout the region will not be affected.”
ProVia is also acquiring 79 acres in Davie County, North Carolina, where it intends to build a a 580,000-square-foot facility to house 400 jobs by 2028.
Once the two facilities are complete, ProVia will operate 10 facilities in Ohio, North Carolina and Mississippi.

growth of the company’s vinyl window and patio door business. This expansion includes a 310,000-
square-foot facility in Dover, Ohio that is expected to create 400 jobs, and a 580,000-square-foot facility
in Davie County, North Carolina that is expected to create 400 jobs.
Together the facilities will help ProVia meet growing demand for windows and patio doors while
expanding the company’s manufacturing footprint into the southern United States. The additional
manufacturing capacity will enable the company to increase window and patio door production,
maintain excellent lead times, and streamline shipping and distribution. Once these projects are
completed, ProVia will own and operate 10 production facilities located in Ohio, Mississippi and North
Carolina.
