Rep. Bill Johnson leaving Congress for YSU president’s job

| November 22, 2023

YOUNGSTOWN (WJER) (Nov. 22, 2023) – The congressman who represents Dover and New Philadelphia in Washington will be moving on.

6th District Representative Bill Johnson on Tuesday was named the next president of Youngstown State University.

Johnson on X, formerly Twitter, announced he accepted the offer after much thought and prayerful deliberation, calling it an extremely difficult decision.

Johnson, who was first elected to Congress in 2010, says he will continue to work on his agenda in the U.S. House for several more months.

He says he will resign sometime before his start date of March 15th at Youngstown State.

He was given a three-year contract with an annual salary of $410,000.
