Repeat OVI offender charged for 4th time in 10 years

| March 9, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA – A 44-year-old Tippecanoe man faces a felony charge after being charged with an OVI offense for the fourth time in the past 10 years and seventh since 2000.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office says Ronald A. Lillie Junior had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when deputies pulled him over along state Route 212 in Lawrence Township on Sunday, March 1, at 12:23 a.m. The report says deputies observed his vehicle traveling at a slow speed and failing to maintain marked lanes or use turn signals.

Lillie was arraigned in New Philadelphia Municipal Court the following morning on the felony OVI charge and a misdemeanor violation. Court records indicate he was released on his own recognizance with an alcohol monitor. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11.
