Report: Drunk driver fled New Philadelphia hit-skip, lost his lunch in Dover

DOVER – Police say a drunk driver who fled the scene of a fender-bender in New Philadelphia ended up in someone’s front yard in Dover where he threw up on himself before going to jail.
Court records show Police have charged the 27-year-old Dover man with six misdemeanors, including OVI, failure to control, open container, false identification, no operator’s license and driving under suspension. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court Thursday.
Police reports say the man was driving a black Hyundai and struck a parked vehicle on 11th Street NW in New Philadelphia then left the scene, driving erratically at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday.
Dover police got a call at 6:30 saying a car was in a yard at the end of a cul-de-sac on East 4th Street. They responded and determined the man was intoxicated. The report says the “male has gotten sick all over himself.”
Police attempted to take the man to his home, which was a few blocks away, but no one answered the door. They took him to the Tuscarawas County Jail where he stayed until his hearing Wednesday morning.
