Rider injured when motorcycle crashes on Crooked Run Road
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 13, 2022) – State troopers say a helmet may have saved the life of the New Philadelphia man who crashed his motorcycle on Crooked Run Road late Monday afternoon.
New Philadelphia Post Sgt. Bill Bower says it happened around 3:40 pm near May Valley Road in Dover Township.
“It was a one-motorcycle, off the right side of the road crash. The driver did sustain some bad injuries in the crash and had to be life-flighted to Akron General Hospital.”
Bower says the rider, 42-year-old Aaron Stull of New Philadelphia, experienced multiple broken bones but nothing life-threatening, likely because of his decision to don a helmet.
“Anytime that you can wear any type of the protective gear that they recommend for you to wear when riding a motorcycle such as riding gear and a helmet, that always reduced the chances of you sustaining further injuries if you are involved in a crash.”
The crash remains under investigation, and troopers believe speed may have been a factor.
