Road rage fight, overdose during arrest among weekend incidents

| August 18, 2025

BOLIVAR – The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office is expecting charges against a Bolivar man after a road rage incident led to a fist fight on the I-77 exit ramp on Friday afternoon.

Detective Captain Adam Fisher says it started when one driver attempted to merge into traffic on I-77 north and another driver wouldn’t let him over. The two vehicles then exited the freeway at Bolivar. One man got out of his vehicle and challenged the other man to do the same. He did, and they fought.

Fisher says both were from the Bolivar area. Fisher says the man accused of not letting the other driver over got out of his car and initiated the physical confrontation. He will likely be charged.

Fisher says the victim had some minor facial injuries and did not require a trip to the hospital.

The case was still under investigation Monday afternoon.

WOMAN FLEES, OVERDOSES DURING ARREST

BOLIVAR – Tuscarawas County deputies had a tough time arresting a 25-year-old Lawrence Township woman on Saturday.

The woman was wanted on a theft warrant out of Stark County. Deputies located her on Hess Mill Road Northeast in Bolivar.

She attempted to flee on foot but was caught.

The arresting deputy suffered minor skin abrasions and a minor leg injury.

Then the female told law enforcement she had just consumed fentanyl and started to overdose.

Officers administered Naloxone and she regained consciousness.

On the way to the hospital, she tried to kick and bite a Dover Fire Captain, who wasn’t injured.

The woman on Monday was being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail on the previous warrant and new misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct.

She pleaded not guilty Monday morning and a judge set bail on the new charges at $2,500.
