Rockets split a pair at Memorial Hall
Tuscarawas County Special Olympics hosted a basketball triangular with the Cuyahoga Rockets and Belmont Eagles Saturday at Memorial Hall. The Rockets finished the day 1-1, losing a tough battle to the Cuyahoga Rockets and winning against the Eagles.
Against Cuyahoga, Matthew Medley had 26 points, including eight 3-pointers. Deric Johnson added 8. Zach Dryden had 6 rebounds in the game, while Medley and Johnson both added 4. Medley also had 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
Against Belmont, Chris Wernert led all scorers with 17 points. He also recorded 10 rebounds. Medley added 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. Alex Adkins had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals in the victory.
The Rockets are now 6-2 on the season.
The Rockets next game is Jan. 9 on the road against Lorain Murray Ridge. Both Rockets Maroon and Rockets Silver will be facing each other at Indian Valley High School on Thursday, Jan. 12, with the game set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
