Roller Skating Attraction Proposed for Dennison’s Heritage Park
DENNISON (WTUZ) (Aug. 26, 2026) – Another seasonal skating attraction could be coming to Dennison’s Heritage Park this fall.
The village this time is looking to make more use of the park while warm weather continues.
Mayor Greg DiDonato told council he learned of 120 pairs of roller skates available from a Cambridge group after its planned initiative did not move forward.
“I’ve got a group, a local non-profit, they would like to do it and I thought we could do this for our kids and have something,” said DiDonato.
DiDonato says the village could use those skates to create a blocked-off roller skating area on the concrete pad near the Heritage Park gazebo.
To make the setup work, the village would move picnic tables and use road barricades to create a skating boundary.
If approved, the roller skating zone could open this year from September 18th through October 8th, with hours on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. After that, the area would transition back to the synthetic ice rink for the winter season.
The Twin City Chamber of Commerce has agreed to contribute $4,500 for naming rights during a four- to six-week period in September and October. A local nonprofit would operate the skating program.
