Rotary Leaders Honored for Lasting Service to New Philadelphia
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (July 31, 2026) – Mayor Joel Day recognized longtime Rotary Club members Cary Gardner and Tom Police during this week’s city council meeting, thanking them for their years of service as they prepare to move closer to family.
Gardner was a founding member of RTY, Inc., the nonprofit that operates the rides and concessions at Tuscora Park. He also served as treasurer of the New Philadelphia Rotary Club and helped lead numerous community projects.
Police led the restoration of the Storybook Lane displays at Tuscora Park and helped establish the Rotary Club’s American flag program, which decorates downtown and neighborhood streets each year.
Mayor Day said the contributions of Gardner and Police have left a lasting legacy in New Philadelphia and thanked them on behalf of the community.
