DOVER (WTUZ) (Nov. 18, 2024)  – The Dover – New Philadelphia Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to man its kettles this holiday season.

The organization’s Red Kettle Campaign begins at area retailers this coming Saturday. Captain Andrew Behr says they would like to collect at least $100,000 to help support their soup kitchen, after-school program, and other services.

But Behr says people can help just as much by volunteering to ring the kettle bells if they can’t donate financially. That’s because if they don’t have volunteers, the spots need to be filled with paid employees, which cuts into the Salvation Army’s budget.

Kettle locations include Mako’s Market in Uhrichsville, both Buehler’s locations, and the New Philadelphia Walmart.

Individuals, groups, or businesses can sign at register-to-ring.com.
