Saturday fire damages interior of laundry service building
Damage wasn't apparent from the outside following Saturday’s fire to Ellis Laundry & Linen Supply at 213 8th St SW, New Philadelphia
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 7, 2023) – Firefighters say a weekend fire caused “a lot” of heat and smoke damage inside a commercial laundry service building.
Fire Captain Bert Synder says they arrived at the Ellis Laundry & Linen Supply company on 8th Street Southwest just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday to find smoke coming from vents under the roof on all four sides of the building.
He says there were towels and other paper products burning inside.
Snyder says firefighters soon had the fire out but remained there for almost three hours to make sure nothing had spread.
A damage estimate and the cause of the fire weren’t immediately available.
