School to host free dinner and show for senior citizens

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Jan. 22, 2025) – Students and staff at Welty Middle School are again treating district residents 65 and up to a night of food and theatre.
The school is hosting its yearly senior citizens night on February 13th. Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant Tamra Wells describes it as a wonderful evening of fellowship.
“They get to have a dinner that is provided by Chef Nate, our food service director, and then afterwards they are able to go see the play. It’s the opening night of ‘Young Sherlock.’”
The dinner begins at 6 o’clock and will be served by Welty students.
“They’re always very nervous at first to have to interact and serve but then by the end of the night it’s just kind of fun to watch them blossom and have those conversations with people and enjoy serving our community.”
Only 125 seats are available, and there’s a two-ticket per address limit. You can get them by calling the administrative office at 330-364-0600.
