Sports fees and season ticket prices going up in New Phila
NEW PHILADELPHIA – The costs to participate in and buy seasons passes for New Philadelphia Schools sporting events is going up.
The School Board this week increased pay-to-participate fees and season ticket prices, and added a price tag to Golden Quaker passes for senior citizens.
Board member Kelly Ricklic said it is getting more expensive to run school sports programs, especially hiring officials. He said the new costs are not outrageous. Superintendent Amy Wentworth says they are still lower than other school districts and hadn’t changed in a long time.
Pay-to-participate fees are increasing from $50 per student per year to $100 at the high school and $75 at the middle school.
Season tickets will increase from $75 per season to $100. Wentworth says the season ticket price increase will generate nearly $20,000 per year for the athletic department.
Golden Quaker passes for senior citizens, which had been free, will be $25 good for five years.
