Stark County man indicted for cocaine trafficking after arrest in Uhrichsville

NEW PHILADELPHIA – A traffic stop in Uhrichsville back in October has led to a grand jury indictment for felony cocaine trafficking for a 38-year-old Canton man.

Tuscarawas County Prosecutor Ryan Styer says Uhrichsville Police initially stopped Roberto Rodriguez around 8 p.m. on October 8^th for driving left of center and not having headlights on the car.

Styer says police found a large quantity of cocaine, $2,640 cash, scales, multiple cell phones and a gun in the car. He says Rodriguez was not permitted to have a weapon because of previous convictions.

Rodriguez was initially charged in Southern District Court where he posted bond on a $10,000 bail and was released from custody.

The Tuscarawas County Grand Jury indicted Rodriguez last week on four counts, including first-degree felony counts of trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, felony weapons charges and a misdemeanor count of OVI. The cocaine trafficking charge is based on the amount of cocaine – between 27 and 100 grams – and other evidence.

Styer says Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Ernest will schedule an arraignment date where Rodriguez will appear to enter a plea.
