State Highway Patrol looking for semi involved in fatal I-77 crash
STRASBURG (November 12, 2024) – The State Highway Patrol is trying to track down a red semi-truck involved in a fatal crash on I-77 just north of Strasburg three weeks ago.
Sgt. Bill Bower says the truck and the driver had left the scene of the Oct. 24 crash before authorities arrived.
He says the semi was northbound and attempted to make a U-turn in the crossover when an SUV struck the back of the trailer. The driver of the SUV, 78-year-old Dennis Alsept of Bolivar, was transported to an area hospital and died a week later.
Bower says Highway Patrol investigators are using all their resources to track down a red semi hauling a flatbed trailer that they believe is at fault.
“We tracking this semi, and we owe it to this family to find this subject and we will,” he said.
