Stone Creek boy shot when gun falls from ATV
MILLERSBURG (WJER) (June, 12, 2024) – The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent accidental shooting of a child from Stone Creek.
It happened around 4:45 Tuesday afternoon on property near Clark Township Road 154 as the 12-year-old was transporting a loaded rifle on a four-wheeler.
The sheriff’s office says the boy was transported by helicopter to Akron Children’s Hospital with a single gunshot wound to the chest that he appeared to have sustained when the rifle fell, hit the ground, and discharged.
Officials didn’t have an update on the boy’s condition Wednesday morning but said he was conscious and alert whenever help arrived.
