Strasburg woman dies in Tuesday crash on I-77 in Dover Township
DOVER TWP. (WJER) (April 3, 2024) – State troopers say a Strasburg woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in Dover Township Tuesday afternoon. The victim was one of the drivers, 86-year-old Doris Webber.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says she was driving southbound and had used the emergency crossover in the median to enter the northbound lanes when her car was struck by an SUV driven by a Newcomerstown woman shortly after 2:30 p.m.
Webber’s car went off the right side of the northbound lanes, struck a ditch, and came to a stop in high water.
She was pronounced deceased at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital.
The other driver was taken to a Canton hospital with injuries described as minor.
Troopers also say both drivers were wearing seatbelts and that alcohol was not a suspected factor in the crash.
