Strasburg woman killed in motorcycle-car crash
STRASBURG – A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Strasburg Friday night.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says at around 9:15 p.m., 38-year-old Nichole VanMeter of Strasburg was riding a 2020 Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883 heading northwest on South Wooster Avenue when a 2014 Toyota Rav4 pulled out of the Malcuit’s Tavern parking lot in front of her, attempting a left turn into the opposite lane. The motorcycle overturned and struck the car.
Ms. Vanmeter was later pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital. The State Highway Patrol says the driver of the car, a 24-year-old Akron man, sustained possible injuries.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash. Ms. VanMeter was not wearing a helmet. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. They will review the report with the county prosecutor to determine any charges.
The Dover Hog Heaven shared in a Facebook post that Nichole VanMeter was the restaurant’s GM:
“She poured all she had into making Dover Hog Heaven the place that it is. Please bear with us, and our staff, as we navigate through these incredibly difficult times. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to her children who she loved so much. Nichole will never be forgotten by any of her Hog Heaven family as she meant so much to us all.”
