Sunday morning fire damages Dover home

| March 14, 2022

DOVER (WJER) (Mar. 14, 2022) – Dover Firefighters say nobody was injured from a weekend house fire in the 100 block of Pine Street.

Lt. A.J. Moore says one of the occupants initially reported it as a basement fire just before 9 a.m. Sunday.

He says when firefighters arrived it appeared the fire was mostly exterior, and the flames had been working their way up to the attic of an addition on the backside of the home.

Crews worked to extinguish the bulk of the fire on the outside, and then we went inside to tear some ceilings out to look for extension and put additional fire out,” he said.

Moore says the department’s investigators will continue working to try and figure out how it started.

He says damage to the house is estimated between $40,000 and $50,000.

The family members have been put up in a hotel temporarily.

He says firefighters were on the scene for just under two hours.
