Suspect in New Philadelphia shooting death indicted for manslaughter
NEW PHILADELPHIA – A North Carolina man accused of shooting and killing a New Philadelphia man in his home has been indicted by the Tuscarawas County Grand Jury, but not for murder.

PAUL KINLAW (TCSO)
Paul Kinlaw, 26, was indicted on four felony counts – voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault and aggravated assault. New Philadelphia police said Kinlaw shot 42-year-old Christopher Damron during an altercation in Damron’s Second Street Southwest home on September 20th.
Prosecutors initially charged Kinlaw with murder, but the Grand Jury came back with two counts of manslaughter. The voluntary manslaughter charge alleges Kinlaw killed Damron in a sudden fit of rage or passion. The involuntary manslaughter charge alleges Damron’s death was the result of Kinlaw’s assault. All charges carry firearm specifications that would add three years to any sentence. Kinlaw has been in the Tuscarawas County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
