Suspects in road rage beating plead not guilty

| June 26, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 26, 2024) – The two men charged for a violent road rage-related attack near New Philadelphia remain free on their own recognizance after their arraignments.

Wyatt Shaw, 20, of Gnadenhutten, and Landon Levengood, 19, of Sherrodsville, are charged with felonious assault in connection with the February 9th beating of a 53-year-old outside of his home. They pleaded not guilty Wednesday afternoon when they appeared before Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Elizabeth Thomakos, who ordered them to remain law-abiding and have no contact with the alleged victim.

The sheriff’s office says the attack followed a series of escalating events that started when the parties were driving on West High Avenue near the Eagle Truck Stop and that the man sustained “significant injuries” to his face requiring surgery.  Pre-trial conferences to schedule future court dates for the two suspects will take place on July 29th.
