T4C to host Free Community Laundry Days in March

| February 8, 2023

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Feb. 8, 2023) – The Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community is trying to help cash-strapped families make ends meet by paying for their weekly trips to the laundromat.

Executive Director Carly Hart says you’ll be able to wash and dry up to four loads for free during the weekly Community Laundry Days T4C is sponsoring in March.

“Laundry is an essential need every day, especially families with children. You don’t realize how much you need it until you don’t have it, so we’re excited to get it going and see how the community receives it.”

Laundry Days are on Tuesdays from 9 am to noon beginning March 7th at the Finish Line Coin Laundry locations in Dover, New Philadelphia, and Dennison, although Hart hopes to continue them beyond that.

“I think it would be great if agencies or schools, churches, organizations might be interested in starting a quarter drive to help fund this in different areas of the county so we can keep it going. We have set aside funding for emergency assistance but if this is the need that it seems to be, we might be looking for other ways to support.”

She says they’re still ironing out some of the details but will probably have participants sign up when they arrive to do their laundry.

“We want to make sure that we are serving Tuscarawas County residents for this program because our funding does come in to support Tusc County residents, so at this point it’s looking like a proof of residency will be asked to be provided when registering and then almost like a ticket system to get them started on their laundry.”

T4C is best known for its Share-A-Christmas holiday assistance program but accepts donations throughout the year to meet other needs within the community. You can learn more and contribute at t4conline.net.
