TCC collecting donations for students impacted by house fire
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (January 4, 2023) – The Tuscarawas Central Catholic community is rallying around a student who lost her home in a New Year’s Day fire in Canton and an alumnus injured in the blaze.
TCC Principal Jennifer Calvo says the school is collecting monetary donations for freshman Eleana Falkner and her family, and for 2022 graduate Cam Costello, a friend of Eleana’s brother Owen, also a 2022 grad.
Costello was visiting at the time of the fire. Calvo says he is recovering from burns to his hands and arms at Akron Children’s Hospital.
Donations can be dropped off during the day at Tuscarawas Central Catholic starting Thursday, when classes are back in session.
They can also be dropped off at the school during any of the basketball games taking place at the school this week.
Friends have also started a GoFundMe account to help Costello with his medical bills. https://gofund.me/ea5414c8
By Wednesday afternoon, that account had collected more than $7,300 as organizers adjusted the goal from $8,000 to $10,000.
