Teen killed in Bolivar-area crash

| June 29, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 29, 2026) — An 18-year-old New Philadelphia man died after a two-vehicle crash Sunday night near Bolivar, with investigators citing possible fault by both drivers.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Ridge Reichman was driving a Nissan Altima just before 8 p.m. when he failed to yield at a stop sign at North Orchard Road and Northwood Avenue and was struck by an eastbound Ram pickup driven by a 27-year-old Bolivar man.

Reichman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and later died at Mercy Hospital.

The pickup driver and a passenger, both wearing seatbelts, were not injured.

Troopers suspect alcohol was a factor for the pickup driver and will consult with the prosecutor’s office on potential charges.
